How to <\/strong>Mitigate the CMS 8% Reimbursement Cut<\/strong><\/h1>\n

On August 1, 2019, Systems 4PT analyzed the CMS 2020 proposed rule<\/u> and we discussed, \u201cNotice of an 8% reduction of PT\/OT reimbursements in 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2,475 page, 2020 final rule<\/u> was released last week.<\/p>\n

The Bad News<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Of course, the bad news is that Medicare has finalized and adopted their intention to lower PT, OT, and SLP reimbursements by 8% in 2021.<\/span>\u00a0 We all need to be aware that this advance notice increases the \u00a0likelihood that commercial payers will do the same.<\/p>\n

Making Good News Out of Bad News<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

There IS Good News\u00a0 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is not what you\u2019re expecting to hear, but the good news is that over the past several years, technologies have been developed that increase outpatient rehab collections by more than the 8% that payers will cut.<\/p>\n

These new technologies leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, real-time computer-to-human interaction, Medicare HardStop™ safeguards, advancements in database integration, and \u201cTreatment Not Billable\u201d lists, which quarantine the dirty claims that you\u2019re billing out every day today.<\/p>\n
