New Medicare Rules: Want a Higher Medicare Fee Schedule?<\/strong><\/h1>\n

There\u2019s Only One Way to Get It.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

On November 1, 2018, the CMS\u2019 2019 Final Rule announced that Medicare\u2019s annual cost of living fee schedule increase would be discontinued.\u00a0 While rent, energy, taxes, payroll, and other costs will continue to increase, your Medicare Fee schedule will never increase again.<\/p>\n

New Rules and The New Way to Win<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Increasing your Medicare fee schedule now requires participation in an incentive payment system where incremental reward and bonus dollars are earned.\u00a0\u00a0 The program is called the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System, also known as MIPS.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

About 15% of outpatient rehab is participating in MIPS during 2019.\u00a0 Good for them. Most of these practices will qualify for the 2021 reward and bonus dollars from Medicare.\u00a0 Doing so, they have locked in a higher Medicare fee schedule.\u00a0 It\u2019s like \u201cmoney in the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n
