Medicare\u2019s 2019 Final Rule Encourages Increased Documentation Efficiency<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    With \u201cPoint-of-Care\u201d documentation, when the patient\u2019s daily visit ends, the daily note is signed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    And when it\u2019s Sunday afternoon, you\u2019re spending time with your family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Point-of-care documentation is often viewed negatively:<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      \n
    • \u201cI need to spend my time treating, not typing\u201d<\/li>\n
    • \u201cThe patient should not be looking at the top of my head while I type. They should be looking at my face as I interact with them\u201d<\/li>\n
    • \u201cTyping does not yield progression\u201d and<\/li>\n

          When therapists documented (all or most of) daily notes at point of care, patient progression was not negatively impacted.\u00a0 In fact, treatment duration was one visit shorter vs. therapists who documented daily notes later!<\/p>\n
