9 Questions That Address Your \u201cHIPAA Health\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because the practice owner bears civil and criminal liability for HIPAA breaches, it\u2019s a good idea to periodically revisit this topic.<\/p>\n

Not only will your HIPAA policies constitute an important defense,<\/span> if there ever is a HIPAA breach, instituting them also greatly lowers the risk of a breach occurring in the first place.<\/p>\n

The following nine questions, when properly addressed, are the foundation of your HIPAA health.<\/p>\n

    • Do employees understand which attachments they are and are not allowed to click?<\/li>\n

    • Do employees understand that their EMR password must be different than other passwords that they use?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      1. Does every computer in the practice have an up-to-date antivirus software that automatically scans on a regular basis?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
