Significant ICD-10 coding changes happen this Sunday, October 1st
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) will release their ICD-10-PCS updates for 2018 this coming Sunday, October 1st.
This is a significant update that impacts 6,029 ICD-10 PCS codes. HHS is adding 3,562 codes, revising 1,821 codes and dropping 646 codes.
Your practice should strive to sign every treatment note prior to Saturday night, September 30th. As of Sunday, claims submitted will require the updated ICD-10 codes.
Systems4PT will assist with these changes as follows:
As of Sunday, October 1st,
If a note contains any outdated ICD-10 code(s) the therapist will be blocked from signing
A pop up bubble will explain which ICD-10 code needs to be updated
The therapist can then use the ICD-10 search tool to find the new, 2018 ICD-10 code(s) and replace the expired code(s).
